Android 12 : Features you must know.
Look and feel : It's beautiful isn't it?
Google announced Android 12 and showcased all new materialistic design, which is a big upgrade from previous Android versions. Android 12 comes with a new beautiful layout and design with minimalistic look and feel.
Google is calling the new visual paradigm Material You, which is an evolution of Material Design. The key highlight here is customisation; Google is making it easier than ever to personalize your phone to your tastes. The "transformative" feature gives you a custom colour palette, and you can easily change the interface colours.
Many will be wondering all this new design and layout will eat up lots of memory and battery of your device, but Google in the event said that this new Android 12 will consume 22% less battery than the previous Android versions, which also results in better battery life.
Another aesthetic change is around dark mode; Google seems intent on making it lighter with every preview. What was a true dark mode now has a distinctly grey tone, and it doesn't look all that great on AMOLED panels. While other manufacturers offering the ability to customize the intensity of dark mode — ColorOS 11 does this really well — Google is unlikely to do the same.
Android 12 brings all new lock screen for your device with changes in clock style and other notifications. The clock style changes accordingly when notification comes and when there is no notification the clock style remains 'big and bold'.
New theme engine :
The most awaited theme engine is added by Google in this update. This allows you to get new and cool features for your device. Another major change is animations; Google has scattered fun animations throughout the interface as a way to make daily interactions that much more playful.
Privacy :
Android is not always known for the high end security and privacy but in recent years Google has managed to implement few changes and improvements regarding privacy and security aspects. Android in comparison with iOS always lack behind security and privacy features. But, this year Android 12 comes with all new improved, tighten security and privacy features. These features gives you all the controls over your device and lets you know which apps are using what permissions of your device. All permissions like Camera, Storage, Phone, etc will be notified to you and you can also check which apps are using those permissions. This also allows you to restrict them from accessing those features.
Android 12 also allows you to manually switch off the sensors in your device which helps you in privacy. The apps won't be able to use the sensors like Camera, etc in background unless you are using the app. This feature gives you safeguard regarding the privacy.
Other Improvements :
A new built-in remote is now a standard in Android 12, so if you have a TV that runs on Android, or just a Chromecast, you can use your phone to browse through your favourite shows.
Android 12 comes with new Google assistant with lots of improvement over last build.
Android 12 also comes with new password manager which allows you to change and notify about potential threats and breaching via your password or website which you are surfing.
Android 12 has a lot of smaller updates that are just as important to keep on your radar. An exciting new addition is a car key feature that will work with select Google Pixels and new cars from the likes of BMW and Volvo.
Another of these features has to do with files and media transcoding. HEVC is becoming increasingly popular in the mobile space, and in light of this, Android 12 introduces new media transcoding tools to help apps deal with HEVC content if they don't natively support it. Now, if an app can't handle HEVC files, those will automatically be transcoded to AVC.
