The ban imposed on PUBG Mobile created a void in the Indian mobile gaming community, as it was one of the most played titles on the platform. The BR title had a great competitive scene and had garnered huge numbers.
PUBG Mobile was among the 118 apps that were banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A. Ever since the game was banned, the fans and players hoped for the game's return in the country.
In a statement on Thursday, PUBG Corporation said,
PUBG Corporation announced that they are gearing up for the release of PUBG Mobile India, a special version to cater to the players in the country. The same could be seen on their official Facebook page and Instagram profile.
“Privacy and security of Indian player data being a top priority for PUBG Corporation, the company will conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users’ personally identifiable information to reinforce security and ensure that their data is safely managed.”
The new PUBG Mobile will be ‘created specifically for the Indian market’. Whole data of PUBG Mobile will be kept in Indian Servers, which previously was the biggest concern for the Government. A new version of PUBG will be crafted especially for Indian users which is expected to launch very soon.😏😜 (Less than a few hours)
The South Korean developer of Krafton said it would create a new Indian subsidiary to oversee the title, and that the game would “maximize data security and cater to local preferences.” The company also pledged to invest $100 million in the Indian “gaming, esports, entertainment, and IT industries,” & will also create 100 job vacancies at PUBG India.
The PUBG Corporation did note, though, that the re-launched game would have certain elements “customized for Indian gamers.” These include characters starting fully clothed, green liquid replacing blood, and framing the game as taking place in a “virtual simulation training ground,” not real life. There will also be limits on how long players can use the game “to promote healthy gameplay habits for younger players,” said the company.
